Couture is Here! First Round Up
July 7th, 2010 by nixieThe only thing better than Ready-to-Wear Fashion Week is Couture Week, and that’s what up across the pond right now.
Celebrities, writers, fashionistas and dare I say, bloggers alike ditched 4th of July weekend to head over to France and watch the very best in Fashion show off their talent on the fantastical runways of Paris. While Couture Week is only seven shows in, we’ve already died, gone to heaven, and come back crossing our fingers in hopes of having come back as the collections we’ve thus far seen a la Dior, Chanel, Givenchy and Elie Saab.
Below, four of our favorite looks from the four shows.
Givenchy’s Couture collection featured feathers, embroidered and crystallized details, and lots of super chic sheer netting.
We couldn’t pick just one from Dior’s floral inspired couture collection. Galliano truly embodied the very best in high end floral arrangements on his way with the hues of bright blues, pinks, yellows, and greens. The plastic wrapping over several models heads was an added bonus, for our amusement.
Each gown more magnificent than the one before, Elie Saab’s entire collection gave us made us swoon. He used tones of beige, red, brown and blue and gave us a heads up about one of our favorite 90s trends making a come back: that epic slit up the leg. No man repeller here, pals.
And finally, king Karl. While the looks were stellar–implementing the newest hemline for fall, lots of fur accent and jewels, jewels, jewels, the real star of his show came in the final look. When one male model came out holding a lionshead.
Chanel has done it again.
