Statement Pieces That You Should Own
April 17th, 2010 by Kori Ellis“Statement piece” – you always hear these words in fashion articles these days, but there’s not a better fitting description. After all statement pieces make statements. This seems to be an obvious thing to say, but it’s important to be remembered – make sure you are creating a message that is one you wish to, well, state!
Basically, statement pieces are meant to be interesting, attractive and relatively eye-catching wardrobe items that reflect your personality. They are said to make a statement because they are known to be bold and unique.
This doesn’t mean you have to go out and buy an orange tunic.
Personally, my statement pieces reflect my personality, make me feel confident and have that element of “pop” in my outfits. This includes accessories, particularly jewelry.
The citrine and yellow sapphire cocktail ring pictured to the right is a great example of a statement piece that doesn’t have to be overly pricey. Available here at Jewlr.com, this ring is available for just $259.00 (retail: $388.50).
I also often use my blazers and jackets as a statement – they tend to always be uniquely cut or an interesting color. (Pink, anyone?) No matter what you are wearing, from jeans and a tee to a cocktail dress, add a statement piece that you love – one that is uniquely you!
