Trend Alert: Bracelet-Rings
I’m calling it now: this double-whammy of a jewelry piece is poised for a major comeback. Read on to learn why.
Blame it on the fact that my street hosted a fetish fair yesterday. I woke up this morning thinking about chains. Not those kind of chains! More like delicate jewelry chains affixing a bracelet to a ring, thereby creating a two-punch statement jewelry piece: the bracelet-ring. Lo and behold, a quick google search turned up a ton of these things at major retailers and indie online shops. What can I say, I’m like the Jewelry Whisperer.
The bracelet-ring gives major drama because the chains call attention to the back of the hand, as opposed to the ring or bracelet. The effect is the similar to henna, drawing visual interest to a place you least expect it. I’m loving the idea of wearing a bracelet-ring with a serious sleeve, to increase the impact even more.
Our picks:
Silver Ring to Wrist Bracelet, $42 (USD), Uptights
What a great Etsy find! I love the geometric, almost industrial look of the piece in the middle, as well as the heft of the chains in general. Wear one on each hand and revel in attention.
Ring to wrist woven bracelet, $24, Urban Outfitters
This one is more fluid and luxe. I think the way that the chains wrap around the side of the hand makes it look sort of spidery and goth-in-a-good way. Think Edward Gorey femme fatale.
Beaded mixed ring-to-wrist bracelet, $24, Urban Outfitters
Full-on rich hippie glam. Wear this for a patio party or champagne breakfast with a shimmery caftan, bare feet, and a charmingly mysterious past. Matching turquoise earrings are a must!
Oh, and look, you can make one yourself:
