Trend Alert: Eyeglass Chains

Since Marc Jacobs sent models down the runway for 2011 Louis Vuitton Resort in 50s-style cat’s-eye shades adorned with dangling chains, everything old – as in old-lady – seemed suddenly new again.

I don’t know about you, but I’m always happy to jump on trends that serve a practical purpose – no matter how ridiculous they actually look. The do-rag trend of ’03 looks stupid in photos now, but as far as I’m concerned, that is one less summer my hair spent getting damaged in the sun and city smog. Whether you deem them a “yay” or a “nay”, my sense is that far fewer fashionistas will be misplacing their shades and prescription glasses this fall.

If you’re with me on this one, you can bypass the sure-to-be pricey Vuitton versions and check out the selection of eyeglass chains at specialist online retailers Hung Chains. Hung Chains offers a range of cheekily styled accessories for specs featuring colourful braided leather and silk, trinkets (think peace signs) and pearls for around $20-$40.  Bonus if you pick some up for your grandma, too!
