Trend Alert: The Hand Heart
July 11th, 2012 by BiancaThe celebrity hand gesture that everyone’s doing.
The peace sign may have been our go to hand pose for impromptu photographs, but last year’s surge of celebrity hand hearts might just topple the two-fingered “V” for good.
Taylor Swift, pictured in concert above, is credited for having popularized the gesture, but this symbolic display of love has been picked up by a number of fellow celebrities including Lady Gaga, Tatum Channing, Katy Perry, Usher and Justin Bieber. Sports stars are also jumping on the heart-shaped bandwagon, with German soccer player Alexandra Popp and Brazilian soccer player Prato both sporting the gesture. It seems just about everyone is spreading some hand-shaped love.
And as if the trend couldn’t get any more diverse, celebrity friends and couples have also been spotted sharing the symbol, each forming one half of the heart with a cupped hand. This slight variation of the trend has exploded within the wedding community, becoming a must-have shot on the wedding day.
In an interview with the The New York Times, Swift described the power of the hand heart. “When the moment is just right and the crowd is screaming louder than any sound I ever imagined I’d hear,” she wrote. “I just want to tell them I love them over and over, but sometimes the simplest thing to do is to make a sign with your hands.”
The design team at Jewlr couldn’t agree more with Swift. The recently launched Sculpted Hand Heart Ring is a similarly powerful gesture of love, romance and togetherness. A variation of Jewlr’s popular Claddagh Ring, this custom-made ring can be created in sterling silver or in one of three gold varieties. A message or important date is the finishing touch to this token of love. Customize and buy your very own Sculpted Hand Heart Ring right here.
