What to Wear to Party
March 16th, 2010 by Kori EllisSpring parties are truly what you make of them – we’ve been to some that are indoors, where sun and flora aren’t even involved – and others, that involve the first smells of summer. The flowers, the air, the gardens…that’s a spring party in its true essence.
But what to wear to your spring parties? There’s a long list of possibilities, and a lot of your decision will be based on what the invitation says, the party location and the time of day.
If it says formal, by all means, break out the dresses and pearls, but always follow these rules:
Wear a floral pattern, or choose light colors. In most cases, light and vibrant colors are a great complement to the flowers in the garden.
Put together an outfit that is comfortable and easy to wear. Since it’s a garden party, it’s going to be held outside. Seating at tables may not be an option, so you may have to rest your plate on your lap.
Try not to clash too horribly with your date. Imagine if you are wearing a hot pink silk dress and he’s wearing jeans and his band’s t-shirt. You may stick out!
Wear statement jewelry. Whether it’s a colorful choker necklace, a thick cuff bracelet or a sparkling cocktail ring, pick one piece that you truly love and wear it well. For outdoor parties, floral jewelry is a fun choice in shades of turquoise, fuchsia and yellow.
